Some Wacky Cake Decorating Ideas And Themes

When you bring a cake to a special occasion like a baby shower, birthday party, or wedding, no doubt you'll want your cake to stand out above the rest, drawing praise and accolades. Unless you've got a pathological fear of receiving attention and compliments, or are a government spy trying to lay low. In which case a bland, dull cake is your safest bet.

Themes For Cake Decorations
Fun and Activity: The name of the game for these types of cakes is crazy shapes. Clouds, balloons, circles, and triangles, any fun and interesting design will do. Use animal crackers to make a mini zoo, or fun filled farm.

Floral Power: Floral patterns go great on cakes in soft shades. A couple green leaves lighten up any occasion. Just ask those zany kids with their herbal cigarettes. The great thing about flowers is that they go great on birthday cakes, mothers day cakes, wedding cakes, baby shower cakes, and any other happy celebration you can think of.

Romance and Love: Bust out your Inner romantic during valentines day, a husband or wifes birthday, a wedding anniversary, or maybe a divorce? Use any color frosting. But make sure to include the favorite color of the person your decorating for. You can't go overboard when adding hearts, and a cupid here or there would be a nice touch. Anything to remind the guests what the celebration is about. Glitter and sparkly candies always look great on a red or pink toned cake.

Cartoons And Fun: I know that young kids love cartoon characters as much, if not more then they love cake. So why not combine the both when decorating a birthday cake for kid, or an older person who loves acting immature? You can use molds and fondant to create the cartoon characters, and then color them in before putting them on the cake. Go ahead, invite good old bugs bunny, mickey mouse, or melvin the deadly martian to your party.

Some Crucial cake decorating Supplies:
-Invest in a professional icing smoother. These are long and thin metal spatulas that let you smooth out a cake with even, perfect layers of icing. A tool like this in your kitchen is vital for making your cake look professionally done.

-Decorations molds: These will allow you to create figures and objects. If your a novice, start off with shapes like triangles, squares, and so on. You'll feel confident in your abilities soon enough to try out flowers, numbers, and characters from cartoons. Just keep practicing.

-Icing bags: These are essential for decorating cakes in a pinch. When you get used to dealing with icing bags, you'll be writing on cakes just like you would a regular ink pen.
-Ready made frosting flowers. These are my favorite tool for quickly and easily adding some beauty to any cake.

-Sprinkles and edible glitter. Make sure it's edible!
-Edible Photographs: These are some of the funnest cake decorations to work with because their so personalized, but they can be frustrating if you don't know how to do it right. Or don't know the properties of the icing your working with.

A glass cake stand is perfect for grabbing some spotlight and applause at any event. Whether it's a going away party, a coming home party, or just a plain, old fashioned, pin the tail on the donkey before you get too drunk party.
