Help! I've Lost My Upline

Has your upliner vanished in to thin air, leaving you high and dry, just when you were getting started? Feel let down, abandoned, not sure where to go next, or what to do? Believe it or not, that could be the best thing to happen when you first join network marketing.

My upliner couldn't wait to get me to sign on the dotted line. In fact I'd actually told her outright I wasn't interested at that moment. Before I knew it, her own upline was knocking on my door, pen and forms at the ready. The poor guy had been assured I was champing at the bit, ready to join this amazing business opportunity. My estimation of the original upline dropped drastically; after all, she didn't even have the decency to do the work herself. Fortunately for me, the guy at my door, after some initial discomfort for both of us, took me through the pros and cons, then left me to decide for myself.
From that day onward, I never saw or heard from my immediate upline. Apparently she realised it wasn't quite the 'become a millionaire in thirty days' opportunity she was interested in, and is now still, two years down the line, signing on for her fortnightly dole cheque.

So, where do you go when faced with this scenario. If you're still convinced the business is something you can make a go of, then start learning, fast. If you can get to local meetings, then do so, as often as possible. There will be people there in exactly the same boat as you, and there will be others, who've been in your position, but who are now earning a very nice income from the business.

Make them your friends, your confidants. Don't be afraid to ask questions. In my experience, the more successful a person, the more they want to share their expertise. That of course is the beauty of network marketing. You are part of a huge team, and to be a success, you must help others to be successful. Where else does that concept exist?

Read books, listen to tapes, spend time and occasionally money, on learning as much about the business, about people, and most importantly about yourself, as you possibly can. Begin a never ending journey in to the realms of education. Not the sort we're taught in school, college or university. It's what you learn from life that matters.

Having a good sponsor or upline can sometimes stop you from being a success. You can rely too heavily on them for advice, which may not always be the best. You could rely too much on their way of doing things, which may be totally wrong for you. They too could suddenly drop from the radar, leaving you stranded, without the foggiest idea how to continue.

I'm not suggesting for one minute that you should go it completely alone, ignoring any support that may be offered. Far from it. Just don't expect someone else to build your business for you, while you blindly follow orders. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, you will be sponsoring hundreds of eager new recruits; and you won't be able to do it all for them. You can help them, encourage them, and support them, but at sometime or other, you will have to loosen the reins, because you'll be far too busy, reaping the rewards of your own hard earned success.
